Plastic Surgery is a medical specialty that has developed particularly after the 2nd World War in an effort to solve the problems that have come up from severe war traumas.

Its name stems from the Greek verb "πλάθω" which means to give shape to a material.

Plastic Surgery has four major fields of expertise. Reconstructive Surgery aims to reconstruct and "fix" any part of the human anatomy that has been damaged whether from illness, trauma or congenital conditions.

Aesthetic Surgery, the second field, is in principle the application of Reconstructive Surgery to fix what time has affected.

Burn treatment is the third field, and it concerns burns from the time of occurrence until they are fully healed and the scars are treated. Finally the fourth field is Surgery of the Hand, a field that is not particularly known to the general public. This field requires specific and hard training as well as a fine surgical approach.
